KITTERY,
MAINE
Kittery
- Gateway to Maine
Kittery
is the gateway to the state of Maine. Kittery, just below the
popular summer resort town of York
Harbor, is most famous for
its Factory Outlet Stores that line Route 1. There are over 120
shops of designer brands at huge savings, plus there is the
historic store - Kittery Trading Post where you can find
everything from hunting and camping gear to the latest ski and
snowboard equipment.
But
Kittery is so much more than shops and seafood restaurants.
Kittery is the oldest incorporated town in Maine, with miles of
scenic coastal beauty along Maine’s Route 103. Kittery is home
to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and has a proud maritime past
dating back to the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.
Fort McClary and Fort Foster
are open for exploring and perfect for a family visit,
a
picnic, and a peak at the historic military bunkers, plus a
great view of Portsmouth Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean.
Kittery offers accommodations
from motels and hotels to cozy inns
and bed and breakfasts.
You will
find your Maine lobster feast overlooking the waterfront,
whether you prefer a clam shack at Kittery Point to upscale
cuisine at Anneke Jans.
